
CURRICULUM RATIONALE
Technology is changing the world so quick that we are preparing students for a future and jobs unknown for our current reality.
This course will focus on providing them with the skills to face future challenges using innovative technology, student’s creativity and initiative, collaboration, communication as well as our Catholic beliefs and Gospel values. The desired outcome of the Technology class is for students to learn how to use the different technological resources in a responsible and creative way to do collaborative projects, solve problems and serve others.
The Technology class will be imparted following each school’s class schedule. The grades will share curriculum covering the IDOE standards for Computer Science as followed:
Curriculum A: Kindergarten, First grade, and Second grade
Curriculum B: Third grade and Fourth grade
Curriculum C: Fifth grade and Sixth grade
Based on their grade and curriculum type, students will demonstrate sufficient knowledge of 1) Keyboarding, 2) Digital citizenship, 3) Computer Science age-appropriate concepts, 4) Computer Programs and Devices and 5) Computer-based Projects using the following programs: Typing.com, Typing club, Common sense media, DQ world, Code.org, Madewithcode.com, Kodable, Google apps, Mac apps, and Wonder workshop robotics.
